  2. Year 1

Year 1 - Ruby Class & Scarlet Class

In September we usually invite parents and carers into class to see and hear about the expectations on children's learning for this year. Unfortunately, due to COVID-19 this cannot happen this year.

You can click the link here to download a PDF of the presentation.

Year 1's Letters

Please check the folder below for any of Y1's current letters. To download a copy, click the green button on the right.

Showing 1-1 of 1

Year 1 is when pupils begin learning the content of the National Curriculum. At the end of Year 1 children will be assessed on their phonic knowledge via the government's statutory Phonics Screening Check.

This assessment is carried out on a 1-to-1 basis, usually with the class teacher.

Parents/carers are informed of the result and what this means with their child's end of year report.

Please check your child's individual Phonics Booklet to see which phonemes (sounds) and spellings they are learning each week.

Educational Visits & Visitors

Please check below for the proposed educational visits and visitors across this year's learning.

Letters for each trip will be sent out nearer the time with more detailed information along with requests for payment donation.

Autumn Term – Hocus Pocus

Due to our current COVID-protective measures we are unable to take pupils off-site for educational visits. This is under continual review and we hope to re-instate these as soon as it is safe to do so.

Spring Term – Once Upon a Time

Animazing will deliver a presentation to both Ruby and Scarlet classes. They will bring along their wild and wonderful animals and there will even be a chance to handle some of them! Children will get the opportunity to learn lots of interesting facts in a safe environment.

Summer Term – Strawberry Fields Forever

A trip to Blackberry Farm.

In order to enhance the children’s learning about different plants and animals, our final visit will be to Blackberry Farm. The cost will cover the children’s travel, insurance and entrance to the farm.
