Read your phonics booklet for 5 minutes.
English activity - FOREST
Look at this picture. Using your imagination and the picture to help you, try to answer the following questions:
- What’s on the other side of the door?
- What is the girl holding in her hand? Why?
- How did she get to the forest?
- Where is this?
- Who hung the lanterns in the trees?
- Where does the stream lead?
- Will the girl go back through the door or stay in the forest?
Predict what will happen next.

Nature’s music activity
Not only can we see plants, eat plants and feel them as we walk around, but we can also turn some of them into instruments! Did you know that some dandelion stalks can make a trumpet sound when you blow through them?
Can you make up your own tune using some ideas below?

This book is all about another seed, a seed who’s a little bit different to all of the rest- he’s a bad seed! Listen to the story here...
What advice would you give to the bad seed to help him to become a happier seed?

Read a book on Bug Club
English activity
Jennie Webber is the illustrator for the story ‘It starts with a seed’.
Watch her talk about how she creates her pictures and why she gets her inspiration from nature here:

Use a pencil to draw your own detailed tree- include the tree trunk, branches, twigs, leaves, roots and maybe even a few creatures.
Write all of the adjectives you can think of to describe your tree around it. Is it ‘old, wrinkled, ragged, rough’ or ‘smooth, bouncy, tall and strong’?

Science activity
Did you know that you can grow some vegetables from scraps that you would normally throw away at home? Not only does this cut down on our food wastage, but it’s also a type of nature recycling! A good experiment to try is to put the top of a carrot in some water and watch what happens over the next week.
