Read a book and then play a phonics game.
English activity
In the story ‘There’s a Tiger in the Garden’ Nora uses her imagination to create a garden full of unusual creatures. Now it’s your turn! Close your eyes and imagine that you are walking through your own mysterious garden. What strange creatures might you see?
Draw and label a map showing your journey.
Maths activity
Counting warm up – practise counting backwards from 100 to 0.

This week’s theme is Random Acts of Kindness!
Random acts of kindness are things that we can do for others to cheer them up and show that we care.
The people who receive the random acts of kindness do not expect them. This makes them even more wonderful!
Can you surprise someone with a Random Act of Kindness?
Here are some ideas…
- Paint and hide a stone for someone to find
- Colour a picture for someone
- Make a handmade gift
- Leave a positive note for someone in your house to find
- Make a care package

Read your phonics booklet for 5 minutes.
Now choose some words to practise spelling.
English activity - Questions, questions, questions!
Choose a character from the story e.g. Nora, the grumpy polar bear, the tiger…
What questions would you ask them if you could? Make a note of your questions in your jotter. Remember to use a ? at the end of each question.
Maths activity
Counting warm up – start at 1 and count all the way up to 100.

- Dragonflies that are as big as birds
- Plants that will eat you whole
- A grumpy polar bear
- A Tiger

Now choose some words to put into sentences.
English activity
Listen to the story ‘There’s a Tiger in the Garden’ read by Tom Hardy on Cbeebies.
Talk to a grown-up about the story and try to answer the following questions:
- How do you think Nora felt when she saw Geoff being eaten by the plants?
- Why is the polar bear grumpy?
- Was there really a tiger in the garden?
Draw a picture of your favourite part of the story and write a sentence to go with it. Check your sentence afterwards. Does it have a capital letter? Finger spaces? A full stop?

What plants can you name?
Can you recognise and name any trees?
Use the flower and tree recognition sheets below when you are taking a walk to try and learn to recognise and name some plants that you don’t already know.
You could create your own plant identification sheet in your jotter by drawing and labelling the flowers and trees which you can recognise and name.
