Today your task is to write an ending to the story.
Where do the turtles take the man?
You could use your ideas from yesterday’s role play activity to help you. Remember to write in full sentences and order your ideas carefully.

PSHE activity Your challenge today is to create a beautiful gratitude jar! Find an old jar or pot and get sticking: cover the outside with tissue paper, sequins, drawings or cuttings – make it special! Each day or when you can, write or draw on a small piece of paper something that you are thankful for. You could be grateful for people, things, moments or memories. Fold the paper up and pop it in your pot. Your family might want to join in too. |
Thursday 30th April
English activity
This week we have been completing tasks linked to the animation ‘Once in a lifetime’ .
Role play time! Sit on a cushion and pretend that you are riding one of the flying turtles! What might happen on your journey? How do you feel? Where is it taking you? What happens when you get to your destination?
Maths activity
Collect some objects from around your house to measure.
Draw a picture of each object and label it carefully in your jotter.
Measure the length of each object using a sensible unit of your choice e.g. paperclip, pasta shape, 1p coin etc…
Record the length of each object in your jotter e.g. pencil = 6 paper clips
Challenge: You could have a go at measuring with a ruler with the help of an adult.
- Which object is the longest?
- Which object is the shortest?
Art Activity
If you can, go on a walk and collect as many different types of leaves as you can find.
Can you name any of the trees that they came from?
When you get home…
- Sketch them
- Take rubbings from them
- And if possible paint and print them!

English activity
This week we have been completing tasks linked to the animation ‘Once in a lifetime’ .
Today your task is to draw and describe one of the giant turtles in your jotter.
Challenge: As well as writing sentences which describe the way that they look, can you describe how the turtles move through the sky?
Maths activity
Tower building competition time! Choose something that you can build a tower with
e.g. blocks, junk from your recycling bin, newspaper and tape etc… and challenge someone at home to a tower building competition! Who can build the tallest tower?
When you have finished measure the height of your tower in hand spans.
How many hands tall is each tower? Which is the tallest? Which is the shortest?
Challenge: Can you also measure the towers using a tape measure? You may need some help!
Computing Activity
Have a go at coding by playing ‘Code Disco’ on Busy Things.

English activity
Remind yourself of the animation ‘Once in a lifetime’ .
Today we are going to practise using exclamation marks. Exclamation marks are used to show surprise or excitement.
What do you think the man on the boat might have said when he saw the giant flying turtles?
Write down your ideas in your jotter. Remember to use an exclamation mark if needed.

English activity
Watch the short animation ‘Once in a lifetime’ .
Today we are going to practise writing questions.
What questions would you like to ask the man on the flying boat?
Write down your ideas in your jotter. You could start your sentences with openers such as
Who, What, Where, Why, When, How…
Remember to carefully form a question mark at the end of each question.
Challenge: You could also answer your questions neatly underneath each question (pretending to be the man on the flying boat!)
Maths activity
This week we are going to be measuring lengths and heights using a non-standard unit (without a ruler!)
Today’s task: 1) Draw around one foot of every person who lives with you. 2) Measure the length of each foot using a unit of your choice e.g. you might choose to use pasta pieces or paper clips. (Place the objects in a line from the bottom to the top of the foot.) 3) Write down on each foot how long it is. E.g. 7 pasta pieces Which foot is the longest? Which foot is the shortest? |

Have a go at doing some Cosmic Yoga! Look this up on you tube and you will find lots of different themed sessions!
