We would love to read any of your stories! Don't forget to write your first name and class your work. office@coldean.brighton-hove.sch.uk

Thursday 11th June
English
Today we are going to learn and retell our new story. Think about who your new main character is. Who is the new mystical creature? When and where does the main character notice the mystical creature? What do people notice?
You can use the story map that you created last week to help you tell your new version of the story. E.g The day that Alissia thought she saw an abominable snowman was the first day of the Christmas holidays.
Or you could created a new story map.

Wednesday 10th June
Art activity
Draw a portrait of the Giant from ‘Poppy, Waldo & The Giant’. You could use this description to help you:
“Poppy stood on tiptoe and peeped out of the bathroom window. She caught a glimpse of the giant’s head. Amongst its hair, bushes grew and tiny trees sprouted. She could see bird’s nests and several crows cawed as they circled round.”
- What will the rest of his body look like?
- What will he be wearing?
- What kinds of shoes do Giant wear?
See if you can use lots of different types of lines to ‘describe’ the Giant.
Music activity
Today’s music is looking at a new music making program, Busy Beats. The best way to learn about it is to play with it... but there are also help videos. If you click on the "Launch Help Videos" button shown below, there will appear a menu, watch INTRODUCTION and PLAYING WITH TEXTURES to get you started and then have an experiment. |

If you want to watch more help videos you find them in the top right corner of the screen, next to the red arrow. |
Enjoy. This is a great tool for making music and we will be using it when we all return to school.

Tuesday 9th June
Today we are going to change parts of the story while keeping the plot exciting and suspenseful.
You should use your learning from yesterday to help you.
For paragraph one, you might decide to change the main character and the mythical creature. You could choose a different type of giant or a whole new creature.
Remember that you need to follow the pattern of the story so it needs to be spotted by the main character and make changes to the town/city.
Here is the beginning of Miss Swayne's innovation.
