Thursday 23rd April

English activity

Read chapter 5 of A Horde of Ravens on purple mash.

The chapter ends with the sky above Conan swarming with ravens making a harsh, ugly, braying noise. Will Conan continue to blow the horn? Will Conan find himself in trouble? Write the next chapter of the story on purple mash or into your jotters.

 

Maths activity - Fractions

Let's continue with our learning about fractions using Purple Mash resources. Try and complete these next two today:

  1. Fractions of numberlines - Select the correctly coloured intervals on a number line which matches the unit fraction.
  2. Unit Fractions On A Number Line 1 - Select the correct fraction represented in each number line.

After playing both of these games you could draw some fractions in your jotter and write down some facts you have learned about them.

Create a picture of your perfect garden! Label some of the features.

Wednesday 22nd April

Art activity

Take a look at this artist's website. His drawings are really famous and lots of people copy them. He used to draw in chalk outside or on any spaces or scrap paper he could find.

Can you make your own figures or animal drawings? Look at how Keith Haring used the spaces between his drawings. Save your work so we can share them when we’re back together again.

Computing activity

We are going to start a new computing topic today learning about Branching datThe skills you learn here will be useful in maths and science.

Music activity

This week's music learning is about melody. Melody is the tune of a song.
Check out your 2Dos on Purple Mash and click on "2Do: Melody"
There's an example melody there. Notice that the spaces in the grid help the tune to sound right. Can you begin again and copy the melody of a simple song or nursery rhyme?
Bells and Chimes work well. Maybe someone else at home could help you?
Challenge: Can you add some drums?

English activity

Today we will continue to read "A Horde of Ravens." Read chapter 4 on purple mash.

Try completing at least one of the activities.

You could…

  • Create a character profile for Conan on purple mash or in your jotters.
  • Answer these questions about the story on purple mash.
  • Create a character profile of another character from a different book.

There are four fractions-based 2Dos on Purple Mash this week for you Try and complete the first two today:

  1. Finding Matching Expressions - Finding the matching expressions for a visual representation of a fraction.
  2. Fractions Bar - Select the statements which are true for the Fraction Bars - 1/2, 1/4, 1/3, 1/5.

After playing both of these games you could draw some fractions in your jotter and write down some facts you have learned about them. 

 

Geography activity - Seaside Changes. 

Login to Purple Mash and check out your 2Dos. Scroll down to "Seaside Changes."

Compare how a trip to the seaside has changed over the years! Use ideas from your own trips to the seaside and compare your experiences with the photographs on Purple Mash.

 

Monday 20th April

English activity

We hope that you have enjoyed reading "A Horde of Ravens" so far. Today you can read chapter 3 on purple mash and then take part in follow up activities.

Try completing at least one of the activities.

You could…

  • Write a short story about a campfire either into your jotters on using purple mash.
  • Answer these questions about the story on purple mash.
  • Sequence the events from the chapter.

Maths activity

Times table practice on Times Table Rockstars. Who will be the champions of Year 3? 

This week's new competition begins on Monday morning and runs for the week. Please aim to spend at least 45 minutes on it today to help your class be the best!
