Nursery Wk8

Week beginning 1st June

We hope that you all had a lovely sunny half term with your families. As we have such lovely weather we thought we would start of this term by exploring all the things we love about the seaside! We will start to explore this theme through the much loved story Kipper’s Beach Ball. Listen to Mrs Fagan read the story on Tapestry.

Explore
If you and your family can visit the seaside, take a bucket with you and see what different special things you can find at the beach! Some parts of our seaside have lots of shells on them. How many different types can you find? There are also lots of different types of stones, how many different colours can you see? If you are really lucky you might even find a crab claw!

Be sure to put them back where you found them before you leave as the beach is their home.

If you don’t have the chance to go down to the seaside watch the video on Tapestry of the seaside. Maybe you could try and create your own by getting a tray and some stones. You can then add some water and make some seaweed out of grass or leaves. Take a look at Tapestry for an example.

Phonics
When we visit the seaside we hear lots of different noises. If you go down to the beach can you think about some of the noises you can hear? Maybe you could describe them to your adult.

Then head over to twinkl and have a go at this seaside environmental sounds game,

Count

This week we will be counting to 4. Watch the episode of Numberblocks, ‘The Three Little Pigs and the Big Bad Square’ https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b08cqtk0/numberblocks-series-1-three-little-pigs

Have a go at making your own houses for 1, 2, 3 and 4 out of old boxes. What can you include 1, 2, 3 or 4 of? You could then have a go at acting out the story you heard in the episode!

Create
At the seaside lots of people really enjoy sailing on their boats. Can you try to make your own sponge sailing boat?

You will need a sponge, a lollypop stick and some duct tape, head over to Tapestry for the full instructions. Once you have made it you could float them on a bucket of water in the garden, take them to the real seaside or even try and race them in the bath by blowing at the sails through straws!

Tapestry
Please continue to share photos and videos of your child’s learning on tapestry so that we can celebrate their achievements and give ideas on next step learning.

Thank you for your continued support,

The Nursery Team
