This week we are going to be working on the text Flotsam by David Wiesner. This is a story where there are no words – you can really use your imagination when following the illustrations.
Watch this short film about the book https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3MTKWnxzqvM
Can you create some speech and thought bubbles to go with the illustrations in the book. Choose a few pictures & draw them yourselves then add your speech and thought bubbles. You could write something like:
The beach is fascinating. As I looked at the hermit crab in my hand I couldn’t help but think what other amazing creatures there were out there, waiting to be discovered. The magnifying glass showed me a creature with lots of legs, a beautiful patterned shell and four bristly antennae, sticking up like feather dusters.
