SUMMER HOLIDAY HOMEWORK ACTIVITIES 2017

Please follow the link to download our holiday homework for pupils starting in this year group in September 2017. It is full of activities, videos and book recommendations. By taking the time to read with your child for at least 10 minutes a day, you really will make a difference in their learning.

 YR to Y1 HOLIDAY HOMEWORK

The children's first year learning the National Curriculum. At the end of Year 1 children will be assessed on their phonic knowledge via the government's statutory Phonics Screening Check.

This assessment is done on a 1-to-1 basis, usually with the class teacher.

Parents/carers are informed of the result and what this means with their child's end of year report.

Educational Visits & Visitors

Please check below for the proposed educational visits and visitors across this year's learning.

Letters for each trip will be sent out nearer the time with more detailed information along with requests for payment donation.

Autumn Term – Ticket to Ride

As a part of our transport topic we will take a ride on a bus, then a train, in order to get to the RNLI (Royal National Lifeboat Institution) in Shoreham! Once there, we will have the chance to meet the crew and have a guided tour around the lifeboat station.

Spring Term – With a Little Help from my Friends

A visit to Coldean Woods.

To kick-start our fairytale topic, we will take a magical walk through Coldean Woods…

Summer Term – Strawberry Fields Forever

A trip to Blackberry Farm.

In order to enhance the children’s learning about different plants and animals, our final visit will be to Blackberry Farm. The cost will cover the children’s travel, insurance and entrance to the farm.
