YEAR 4 MULTIPLICATION TABLES CHECK

Year 4 pupils participate in the DfE's Multiplication Tables Check (MTC) in June.

The purpose of the check is to determine whether your child can fluently recall their times tables up to 12, which is essential for future success in mathematics. It will also help the school to identify if your child may need additional support.

The check is on-screen and consists of 25 times table questions. Your child will be able to answer 3 practice questions before taking the actual check. They will then have 6 seconds to answer each question. On average, the check should take no longer than 5 minutes to complete.

Children learn and practise times tables knowledge in lessons and can also access Times Tables Rockstars at home.

We will report your child's score along with their end of year report in July. There is no 'pass mark'.

Please click here for the further information.

Educational Visits & Visitors

Please check below for the proposed educational visits and visitors across this year's learning.

To reduce the financial burden on families, we invite visitors into school as much as possible. We do include one educational visit that requires a coach and this is highlighted below to allow families to plan.

Details of each trip will be emailed out nearer the time with more detailed information along with requests for payment donation.

Autumn Term – Stones, Bones & Ceremonies

Brighton in the Stone Age

A visit to Brighton Museum & Art Gallery to solve some puzzles, handle 5000 year old artefacts, become a Stone Age trader and hear Sussex folklore stories just like our ancient ancestors did.

Spring Term – Roaming Romans

A Roman visitor comes into school to tell the children about their life in Roman Britain. They include details of how they lived, the food they ate and the tools and equipment they used. Children have a chance to ask questions and learn about life in Roman Britain.

Summer Term – GO GREEN!

Stanmer Park Nature Reserve - A visit to explore the extensive reserve investigating the plants that grow there and learning how they have adapted to life in the south east of England.
